Summer has arrived here at Falcao Farm. Today's temp will be 99 degrees F ! A bit of a scorcher for sure ! Needless to say, there isn't alot going on at the moment. When I do ride, it is in the evening just before dark so the lighting is not the best for video recording.
The baby Barbados sheep ewes are doing very well. They are busy munching down all the weeds in their pasture. Their new Sheep shed will be going up this weekend since we have some rain forcast for next week which will be a welcomed relief. The sheep have plenty of shade from trees so they are not bothered by the elements.
I went for a trail ride with a local friend on Cielo last friday to a local park. We went down to the river area that feeds the lake and the horses had a good time splashing...however Cielo decided to one up the other horse, he lied down in the water with me on him ! Of course, the one time I didn't wear my GoPro he pulls off a stunt like that !
Jalaal is coming long very well in his training. I had a break from riding him due to brusing my ribs when I came off about 4 weeks ago. Of course now that it's bug season, he is a bit irritable. Hopefully he won't rub off all his hair and I can continue to ride in the evenings when the bugs are not out as much. The only show I have in mind is the SportHorse National in Idaho this fall. All qualifications have been dropped since the season never really got off the ground this year due to Covid-19. I'm hoping to be able to show him at 1st level and might be able to do one 2nd level test. If not, there is always next year. I am trying to continue working towards getting our flying change and half pass.
Regalo is finally quieter in the contact with me. It took some guessing but now I'm finally riding him the way he is comfortable. Always something to learn and of course all 4 of my horses are ridden differently.
Embedded below is my latest VLOG for you to enjoy as well as some photos of the kids around the farm.
